Essential Italian Horror Movies Part 1

Well,this section of the site could go on and on and on because there are just so many cool films that made there way over from Italy.
For the most part the best ones are from the 1980's era and that is the time frame i'll be looking at here and hopefully bring to your attention some gems that you may not have heard of.
If you are a long time fan of Horror like myself then you may well know about most if not all of what im about to bring to you and if that's the case then just sit back and enjoy the memories of The Essential 80's Italian Horror Movies.

DEMONS (1985) DIR:LAMBERTO BAVA
A group of people are trapped in a large West Berlin movie theater infected by ravenous demons whom proceed to kill and posses the humans one-by-one thereby multiplying their numbers.

HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD (1980) DIR:BRUNO MATTEI
A female reporter and her cameraman boyfriend team up with a four-man commando unit in the New Guinea jungle whom are fighting flesh-eating zombies after a chemical leak at the Hope Centre turns those around it into flesh eating monsters.

NIGHTMARE CITY (1980) DIR:UMBERTO LENZI
An airplane exposed to radiation lands, and blood drinking zombies emerge armed with knives, guns and teeth! They go on a rampage slicing, dicing, and biting their way across the Italian countryside.

CONTAMINATION (1981) DIR:LUIGI COZZI
A former astronaut helps a government agent and a police detective track the source of mysterious alien pod spores, filled with lethal flesh-dissolving acid, to a South American coffee plantation controlled by alien pod clones.

STAGE FRIGHT (1987) DIR:MICHELE SAOVI
A troupe of struggling stage actors is rehearsing for a small-town production of a play. Everything seems to be as it should until one of the cast members turns up dead. In a panic, the others try to get out, only to find they are now locked in the theater with the killer!

BURIAL GROUND (1981) DIR:ANDREA BIANCHI
A professor opens a crypt and reanimates rotten zombies. The zombies attack a jet-set-group which is celebrating a party in a villa nearby.

THE CHURCH (1989) DIR:MICHELE SAOVI
An old Gothic cathedral, built over a mass grave, develops strange powers which trap a number of people inside with ghosts from a 12th Century massacre seeking to resurrect an ancient demon from the bowels of the Earth.

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST (1980) DIR:RUGGERO DEODATO
One of the if not THE most infamous films of its time and any time to be honest for various reasons.Not for all tastes but the Italian Cannibal genre will always be mentioned when discussing horror films from Italy.

An anthropologist heads a rescue party into the South American jungle to find a missing film team making a documentary on cannibal tribes, but the viewing of their footage reveals their crueler intentions.

CANNIBAL FEROX (1981) DIR:UMBERTO LENZI
It is often argued as to whether this or Cannibal Holocaust is the ultimate film in the genre.Watch them both and make your own mind up!

Three friends out to disprove cannibalism meet two men on the run who tortured and enslaved a cannibal tribe to find emeralds, and now the tribe is out for revenge.
